The Black Scholars in Biology (BSIB) is a community network of Black graduate students in the Biological Sciences at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD). BSIB provides personal and professional development workshops for careers in science along with networking and social opportunities for those who self-identify as being a part of the African Diaspora. Membership and events are open to all graduate and doctoral students at UMD.
We aim to empower underserved communities through educational initiatives, promote health through biological science insights, and foster community collaboration for lasting social progress.
Network opportunities are the lifeblood of ambitious biologists and scientists, providing vital pathways to collaborative research, career advancement, and impactful contributions to their fields.
